Operating Procedures
Sim Room Guide
Everything you need to enter, power up, fly, and shut down the simulator. Follow the sequence top to bottom.

Entering the Room
- Unlock the door with your password or fingerprint.
- Once inside, the door auto-locks after 2 minutes.
- To exit, press the electric lock panel or turn the handle manually.
- Outside with the door closed, hold the ✓ button on the keypad to lock manually — or wait 2 minutes for auto-lock.

Startup
- TVs — Point the remote at the center screen from a few steps back and press power to start all TVs at once. If one doesn't respond, aim at its bottom-left corner and press power again.
- Hardware — Flip the top-left switch on the sim panel to ON (red LED lights up).
- Computer — Press the round power button on the PC's front panel.
- Verify — The instructor station shows Windows 11; TV screens remain black.
- X-Plane — Click LAUNCH X-PLANE 12 in the startup window.

Starting the Airplane
- You spawn on the south apron at LFLY. Reposition as needed.
- The KEY / Starter is INOP. To start the engine: set mixture to full rich, then press and hold T repeatedly to activate the magnetos and starter.
- The Hobbs meter runs whenever the engine is on and the sim is unpaused.
NoteThe Hobbs is your billing clock — pause the sim during briefings to avoid logging idle time.

Shutdown
- X-Plane — Hover the mouse at the top edge of the instructor screen and click Quit X-Plane.
- Computer — Shut down normally.
- Hardware — Flip the top-left sim panel switch to OFF.
- TVs — Use the same remote technique as startup.
- Room — Close all windows before leaving.

Instructor Station
- Weather — Set IFR presets, rain, turbulence, cloud layers, and more.
- Failures — Simulate any avionics or system failure available in the real aircraft.
- Repositioning — Skip cruise by jumping directly to an approach or any airport.
- Performance review — Replay the aircraft's track to debrief student performance.
